Fairport Youth Lacrosse Mourns the loss of Program Founder Jim Slusarski
The Fairport Youth Lacrosse community is deeply saddened by the loss of program founder, former coach, and mentor Jim Slusarski, who passed away on Wednesday.
Slusarski, affectionately known by many as “Coach Slu”, first introduced lacrosse to Fairport in 1969 a year following his graduation from Hobart College in Geneva, where he played collegiately.
Slusarski later went on to become a teacher in the Fairport school district while continuing to serve as a coach in multiple sports, including lacrosse, football, and wrestling.
Originally a native of Syracuse, he was inducted into the Fairport Red Raiders Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural Class in 2024 in honor of his contributions to Fairport athletics.
The entire Fairport community extends its deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.
